I’ve had quite a journey drawing Cortland for the last couple of years, and there’s way too much I could say to fit inside one little epilogue here. From the early days on ATPM to his home on Comic Genesis, the Cortland comic strip has introduced me to some of the best friends I’ve ever had online and around the world. It’s been something of a world tour, meeting up St. Louis, Toronto, and even London to draw the spiky-haired cherub with other comic artists from around the world.
Like all things, however, I have to draw Cortland to a close. I’m not going to stop drawing comics, but I’m in a significantly different place than I was years ago when I first started drawing him. I’m a happily married man living in a new city, and I have a whole new cast of character in the comic of life. For the next couple of months, I’ll be going on a kind of sabbatical, trying some new things and figuring out what kind of comic I’d like to draw next. Watch this space for more news on that.
In the meantime, I’ll be keeping my blog up to date with the real-life adventures I’m having here in Omaha. I can’t express how many warm fuzzies I feel knowing people really do read my comic, and I hope when I return to the drawing board that I’ll have something you’ll all enjoy.
We’ll see you then!
